Landons are one of the UK’s leading heavy steel fabricators specialising in fabrications in mild steel, as well as stainless steel and aluminium. Our standards of quality and expertise are highly regarded. As a result, we continue to supply a range of industries, including power generation, renewable energy and construction.
Landons was founded in 1984, originally sited at Castle Works in Stafford. In April 2009 the company relocated its facility to a larger 38,000 square foot purpose built premises, also in Stafford, which provided the resources required to support the growing business.
DMI Y&C Acquire International Procurement Ltd
We are pleased to announce that DMI Young and Cunningham Limited (“Y&C”) has acquired International Procurement Ltd (IPL) business from the liquidators. Y&C is a subsidiary of Diesel Marine International Limited is an international group of companies with its head office in North Shields, Tyne and Wear and has manufacturing sites in Europe, the US and China.
The addition of the International Procurement Ltd businesses will increase our range of industrial and marine products and components.

DMI Announce Joint Venture in Brazil
DMI are pleased to announce an agreement made with Cascadura Ltda of Sorocaba, Brazil covering the supply of services to the offshore, oil and gas sectors in Brazil. The two companies have reached an agreement to use the know-how and expertise of Aberdeen based Highland Electroplaters, a DMI Company, to coat and finish parts for the Brazilian offshore sector. The two companies have agreed that a Rio de Janeiro based joint company will be formed, two-thirds owned by Cascadura and one-third owned by DMI ltd.
AMI Acquires US Heat Exchanger competitor
Europe’s largest replacement heat exchanger manufacturer, AMI Exchanger Limited (AMI) today announced its acquisition of Florida based heat exchanger manufacture Applied Cooling Technology LLC (ACT).
Based in Hartlepool, England, AMI is a part of the worldwide marine components group ‘Diesel Marine International’ (DMI).
AMI Heat Exchangers was honoured in 2010 with The Queens Award for Enterprise (International Trade), due to its renowned name for the supplying high quality replacement heat exchangers for the marine, offshore and industrial applications worldwide, exporting products to over 38 countries each year.
The newly agreed acquisition between AMI and ACT will see The DMI group adding additional investment and a variety of additional products to the US market. The manufacturing facilities will incorporate additional machinery to allow the production of the largest types of Charge Air Coolers. A reconditioning centre will be incorporated into the business for used Charge Air Coolers, HVAC and Plate Heat Exchangers. These additional services will further expand our services to the local Cruise operators and the international shipping market.

Complimenting DMI Group’s strategy of providing high quality Marine and Industrial and cooling solutions worldwide, the acquisition agreement will increase the number of port locations for DMI services; due to ACT’s joining in the group.

DMI Global Appoints Kevin Woodmansey as Group Commercial Director
DMI are delighted to announce the appointment of new Group Commercial Director, Kevin Woodmansey.
Kevin began his career as an Engineer Officer Cadet in BP Tankers until promoted to Chief Engineer Officer with Ugland. He then left, to work as Ship’s Superintendant overseeing conversions of car carriers. He later became Managing Director of Total Marine for 12 years, then Managing Director of Koncentra Logistics Centre and Managing Director of Piston Rings UK Ltd until joining Diesel Marine International Limited as Commercial Director.
AMI Exchangers Win Queens Award for International Trade
On the 14th September 2010, Sir Paul Nicholson, the Queens’ Lord Lieutenant of Durham visited AMI Exchangers to present the Queens Award. Sir Paul and his aides were met by John Wiffen, Managing Director of AMI Exchangers Ltd. and were introduced to Peter Jackson (Group Chairman), Nick Welford (Sales Director) and Lawrence Waller (founder of AMI). Sir Paul was shown the design and manufacturing process that has enabled AMI to become the leading manufacturer of replacement marine heat exchangers and was shown how the company had expanded over its 25 years from its humble beginnings in an old RAF building to the purpose built factory in 2001. He was then shown the new building and machinery which is part of the company’s ongoing £500,000 expansion. The official presentation of the crystal bowl and certificate followed whereupon the Lord Lieutenant congratulated AMI Exchangers on winning the award and thanked the company for the contributions made to UK trade.
John Wiffen thanked Sir Paul on behalf of all employees, for this very prestigious award. He added that this award not only recognises the achievements to UK trade but it validates our “no nonsense” attitude to products and service. “There are few employees here today that have not gone that extra mile to help our customers” he said.
As part of the award, AMI Sales Director Nick Welford and Sales Manager Stuart Henderson were invited to attend the ceremony in Buckingham Palace and to receive personal congratulations from Her Majesty the Queen.
AMI are the world’s largest manufacturer of replacement marine charge air coolers and manufacture a wide range of other types of heat exchangers for marine and industrial applications.
