  • 1980s
    DMI develop the process of reconditioning marine diesel engine components including specialist weld surfacing and hard chrome plating of piston ring groove faces to improve life and performance.
  • 1990s
    DMI develop the business of hard chrome plating of automotive press dies and plastic moulding dies and introduces the process globally. Most automotive manufacturers and sub-contract press shops use the DMI process.
  • 1998
    DMI acquires the business of AMI Exchangers, Hartlepool, manufactures of replacement heat exchangers and charge air coolers.
  • 2000
    Licensee agreements are signed with facilities in Dalian, Nantong & Guangzhou in China, marking DMI’s first move into the region. An agreement was also signed with a partner in Dubai.
  • 2001
    DMI were purchased from Torday and Carlisle PLC in Management Buyout/Buy in.
  • 2004
    DMI acquires Superior Plating and transfers the business to its North Shields site.
  • 2006
    DMI acquires the business of valve manufacture Young and Cunningham UK and transfers the business to its North Shields site.
  • 2007
    DMI acquires the business of Highland Electroplaters (HEL), Aberdeen.
  • 2010
    One of our businesses, AMI Exchangers, wins the Queen’s Award for ca bestreview pro Enterprise in the international trade category for the export of their units around the world.
  • 2012
    DMI acquires the business of Applied Cooling Technologies (ACT) of Fort Myers, Florida, manufacturers of marine heat exchangers and charge air coolers.
