A very similar industry to the marine industry with very similar engines used to generate power rather than push ships meaning DMI Global and its companies’ experience in the marine sector can be applied here also. The power generation industry is serviced by DMI Group’s expertise in reconditioning of major components for engines and manufacturing new and repairing used heat exchangers. Diesel Engine liners are another of the components that are manufactured on site in North Shields, where old ones are reconditioned by plating and machining and new ones are machined and plated and honed to size for major engine manufactures.

Our expertise in medium speed engine liner reconditioning, started with our long experience in servicing British Rail and Bombardier with the engine rebuilds. This experience gave us the skills required to provide the service to others and we are proud to be able to give new life back to old engines by utilising our processes to bring old liners into useful life again, using nickel and chrome on IDs and ODs, grinding to required sizes and honing internal surfaces to set patterns and hatching requirements.
Our Heat exchanger businesses have been very successful in providing new and exchange units for power generation sets and have provided units for the land fill waste sites that use methane gases collected to generate electricity. It’s true that the environment for heat exchangers is not ideal, when coping with these gases, but AMI have provided the necessary skills and materials to make coolers last longer, even in these arduous conditions. It is this high quality that has seen our heat exchanger solutions installed in facilities in Europe, Central America, The Caribbean and the Far East.
